Cultured Lands was a multimedia installation by environmental artist Rob Carter in partnership with the West Collection. This solo exhibition explored humanity’s relationship with the natural and built environments and asked how one can envision a future of our lands in which humanity and nature can sustainably coexist. As Rob Carter’s work brings together questions about art, ecology and history, their display in context of the urban nature fabric of the Schuylkill Center shed light onto Philadelphia’s colonization history and industrial urbanization.
